Interventional Pulmonology

Interventional Pulmonology
Dr. Rajesh Mishra is one of the few specialist with expertise in Interventional Bronchoscopy and its entire spectrum of uses including laser, stenting and brachytherapy for patients with endobronchial disease. Services available include:

Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
Endobronchial Ultrasound is a minimally invasive bronchoscopic procedure used for both diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. The radial probe allows biopsy of small peripheral lung lesions and it is thus an important option in the early diagnosis of peripheral lung cancer. The convex probe enables visualization of mediastinal lymph nodes and biopsy (TBNA) under real time guidance for staging of lung cancer.

Flexible Bronchoscopy Service
this includes diagnostic bronchial biopsy, washing and brushing, bronchoalveolar lavage, bronchoscopic lung biopsy under fluoroscopy, bronchoscopic needle aspiration and biopsy and therapeutic (bronchial toilet, brachytherapy, laser therapy, balloon dilatation) procedures.

Medical Thoracoscopy Service
This service provides for the diagnosis and palliation of patients with pleural diseases of various types.

Rigid Bronchoscopy Service
Stenting, Nd-YAG laser therapy, removal of foreign bodies and mechanical dilatation of strictures for all malignant and benign causes are performed. This is done under general anaesthesia in the operating theatre.

Whole Lung Lavage
Whole lung lavage for pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is done under general anaesthesia and double lung ventilation.
